Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS | To a certain extent “I feel your pain.” I am highly allergic to poison ivy/oak so I do my best to avoid it. The FDA seems to have removed all OTC treatments that actually work so I try to not get it in the first place. My dad, on the other hand, could rip the stuff out with his bare hands with no ill effects.

When I was a kid (8 or 10) I got a bad case of poison ivy. Even made welts on my chest and arms. Dad got some stuff from the pharmacy (OTC) called Neoxyn. Haven’t been able to find it since. I think the FDA must have disallowed it since it worked. Mom would swab it on the welts and then lightly scrape it with a popsicle stick. Burned like fire but it cleared up the poison ivy. IMO probably the next best thing would be to soak a rag in kerosene or diesel and apply it to the rash. That’s what I use for wasp stings. Draws the poison right out.
