WCMO-SWMO Area | They are currently tied for 3rd from last as one on the poorest teams in all of MLB..We hadn't seen a Royals game in years so we went to watch them play Seattle on May 23rd..Royals pitcher Stephen Kolek pitches a complete game 4 hit shut out with the Royals winning 5-0..He threw 108 pitches and the game was over in a unreal 2 hours and 6 minutes...You seldom ever see a complete game pitched anymore.
Then on May 26th they get blown out 15-1 by the Yankees..A friend attended this game and she said this was the worst Royals loss she had ever witnessed in person..She goes to 5-6 games every year.This was followed up on June 26th by the worst loss ever in Royals history..The White Sox score 10 runs in the 3rd inning and won 22-1..
Fast forward to July 6th and the Royals blow out the Phillies by 15 to 1..The Royals score at least 1 run in every inning which is seldom done..Then on July 7th they make 3 consecutive errors in the 1st inning and are behind 9-4 after 4 innings..Game over but not for long..The Royals score 5 runs in the top of the 5th and take the lead 10-9..They finally end up winning 16-12...
Meanwhile Royals 2nd year player Tyler Tolbert goes on a rampage..
On July 4th he goes 2 for 2.
On July 6th he goes 5 for 5.
On July 7th he goes 5-6 with the first 5 being consecutive hits.He flied out on his 6th at bat.
That ties a MLB record with 12 hits in a row..After his 12th straight hit the bat was taken and will be on display at Cooperstown.
What a crazy year so far for the Royals.
