The best price that corn may have been here was about $4.25 during that time frame, maybe $.20 better than harvest.
So you need to haul it to the bin site, dry it (which this would be an advantage), keep it in good condition, auger it back out, then haul it somewhere for a $.20 gain 3-5 months after harvest. Can you make that pay? I can't.
Now I will admit that if we were in an area that was short corn we would see better basis improvement throughout the year and it may pay.
These threads are always so over the top, notice the OP dunking because bins paid. You don't see anyone coming on here tooting about selling for $.50 less than harvest or to a salvage buyer because the bin went bad because I guess that never happens on Agtalk. | |
