Franklinton, LA | I have no idea how much time you have or what you enjoy doing. However, several NAT posters have made some very good suggestions.
I hope you approach the east side of Glacier National Park on a nice sunny day. You will get a fantastic 30-mile view of the snow-covered peaks as you approach the park. Driving through the park on the Going to The Sun Road is very scenic. The Red Buses are crowded, cramped and have very poor visibility. The lodge a few miles from the west entrance has a good restaurant and the lobby construction with the posts and beams is amazing.
Whitefish, MT which is northwest of the park is really pretty. Flathead Lake is south of the park and driving down the east side was very enjoyable.
If you are going south to Colorado Springs, it will be very easy to drive into Yellowstone Park from the northwest or northeast gate. The Cody Museum in Cody, WY is well worth a visit and the drive from Cody to the northeast gate is very scenic. You may not be able to find a parking space anywhere near Old Faithful. The Old Faithful Lodge which is nearby is over 100 years old. The post and beam construction of the lobby is very unique.
Grand Teton Nation Park is a short distance south of Yellowstone. As you go south it will be easy drive from west to east through Rocky Mountain National Park. All 4 parks are very scenic and very unique. Steamboat Springs, CO has some nice hotels and restaurants. I don't have any advice on an easy way to drive north to south through Denver!
I hope you have a great trip.
