If you are a half decent marketer you can probably get the same price off the combine (less drying of course) vs putting grain in the bin. Bins just let you be a lazy marketer (which I also am)
The key in his post is the fact that basis improved a dollar since harvest. The only way to capture that is to have storage or pay storage. He gained $1 and had an interest opportunity cost of 30 to 40 cents. So he gained 60 plus or minus any spreads he took. |
