I agree. I think the microbiome is still mostly a black box. And likely a black box that operates very differently for a carnivore vs a vegan vs an omnivore.

I agree also on the snake oil. I'm not smart enough nor have the propensity to read thousands of pages of research papers and flush out the bias and minutiae. I can read the summary, but that doesn't always convey what is actually in the data. A lot of research has bias going in. We may not like to admit it, but it often does.

Therefore I try to depend on some people I trust to have read and interpreted the papers and present them in a form I can understand. I think that is the best use of my limited time.

One way I figure out who to trust is if what they say tends to agree with what I have experienced personally. A falable method for sure. But it is the best I have.
