| How much fencing are you talking about? When the guy that rented our pasture got out of the business, we gave our fences a much closer look and found them terrible. I told the neighbor I was going to tear out the trees and replace the fence between us. He has been a friend of the family for a lot of years. I offered to do the work, put up the fence & sent him a bill for materials and a minimal amount of labor. I know the money is not there to pay me, but I sent the bill anyway. It was around a quarter mile of length he is responsible for, and I am certain I will never see the money. The other adjacent neighbor along the same fence line had never met me, I offered the same deal, and he was very happy with the fence and wrote me a check immediately after I sent him the bill, and we laid the groundwork for a very good working relationship in the future. We didn't want to get into a long term fight with a long term friend of the family, but it wasn't a lot of length of fence. If it had not been a friend of the family, I would have seen about filing a mechanics lien on his property, but to us it wasn't worth it. | |
