I've been to those places that have been mentioned and I'll give a thumbs up to them all.
Daughter lived in Grand Junction for a couple years, nice place for a bigger town. South of there is a nice drive, thru Ouray and Durango. Nice, scenic towns. Steam railway in Durango.
