roaming | Finally figured out the problem.
Although my receiver is configured to output at 4800baud , and my computer serial port is also configured for 4800baud, I had to adjust my terminal baud rate to 9600 to get any readable communication. As soon as I set the terminal to 9600, beautiful NMEA data started streaming in. Prior to that, I could get only unreadable junk. I thought at first it was an encoding problem, but turns out it was baud rate related.
I'm at a loss to explain why a baud of 4800 on the receiver requires a baud of 9600 on the receiving terminal. This seems to be true only on the x62 receivers.
I tried with HyperTerminal, PuTTy, and RealTerm, and experienced identical results with all three.
Solved, I guess, since I can now capture data, which is what I set out to do. But I don't entirely understand it. | |
