Subject: RE: Castrating Method - Burdizzo

I used burdizzo, growing up and on into when I was the one calling the shots. I think it was a good method. I have used a callicrate pro bander for the last 12 years. I can’t say I see much difference in the setback on the bulls. Do them at 5-600#.
One of the reasons I started banding was that my burdizzo tool perished in a barn fire. I bought about 4 more replacements all foreign, India or Pakistan or Bangladesh. Somewhere over there. I think my original pair my dad bought a long time ago may have been Italian. One had the name jor-vet on them. I think I bout some at valley vet, nasco and a set at the world dairy expo.
I swear they were all junk. They all had a gap a the ends where the bottom jaw over lapped the upper jaw and I swear the cord would squeeze out of the gap a lot. It was very hard to hold it over with just your fingers when crushing because that gap was there.
Maybe I’m crazy
