I support you. Learning how to use electronics as a substitute for problem solving shouldn't come until later. After solid thinking basics are ingrained. We weren't anti games. Their behavior consistanly got worse. Both boys thanked us for keeping most electronics away until they didn't care about them. Both are quite literate in computer use as a tool. Not a sub for in person learning.
We limited use of electronics for our boys when they were younger. We did have some school on I pads that were offline, but we kept them off line and AI wasn't as much of a deal when they were little. They are teenagers now (oldest is 18 youngest 14) and the three oldest not only know how to use computers, but they are tearing computers apart, fixing them, and putting them back together now. The oldest has set up his own router and server. I don't even really understand what a server is. I just know to ask him to fix it if it doesn't work. These boys were all homeschooled and we did not teach them this stuff. They learned how to learn it. |
