| Last winter some of you asked to be kept updated on this project, we are 12 weeks into demo/construction so here is a midpoint update. For the back story our church is a campus site that launched March 15th 2020 by renting the cafeteria and gym of a middle school, that was the weekend covid shut the world down and the school didn't allow us to meet again for exactly one year. That year really started our process of trying to buy our own building with no luck until we bought this 40 year old hotel out of forfeiture last November. The building is a 66x150' steel building with a 62x150' lean-to on each side that held the hotel rooms, managers suite and a 5,000 sq/ft restaurant that had been closed sine 2020 due to an electrical fire.
Back in February we had an auction to sell the hotel/restaurant stuff, construction started March 30th by filling the pool with sand and pouring concrete over it.
What was the pool room with be a 68x93' sanctuary, what had been a 45x45' ballroom with removable divider doors will now be lobby area, we removed one bay of hotel rooms to expand the restaurant area into a 7,000 sq/ft kids area. The floor for the 2nd floor hotel rooms is 4" of concrete over steel decking so removing 1,500 sq/ft of it involved a jack hammer on an excavator for three days.
