N FLA | We had a screworm meeting and the extension specialist appeared to be ranching in the 60s, and said calf buyers were really against it following screworm eradication. Said it does a quality job, but buyers can't easily determine what is castrated.
Remember we sell all calves one at a time through markets here and a majority are bull calves. There is no seller representing their calves, etc. I doubt it was much different in 60s and 70s | |
