The rye isn't organic, but it didn't get fungicides either. 

I don't remember what conditions were the other year the rye failed, I do remember there were a couple other guys with the same experience. 

I'll try to figure out what head scab looks like in mature rye. 

From what I remember, you have to be pretty careful of fungicide timing with rye moreso than wheat.
