I've always heard of diagonal stuff referred to as kitty corner.   My dad always insisted I had to fall cultivate the fields after harvest kitty corner and this was in the mid to late 60's.   In college I found people that called it caddy corner but no one around here in southern ND did.

Edit to say it's probably called catty not caddy.
