South Central MN
I think that misinformation has been peddled hard by the oil company side about as hard as they could.
Not everything you can find is fact but from the sounds of it we would be running E85-E100 as standard fuel had big oil not pushed so hard to get rid of ethanol fuel back when cars were still a very new thing. (Needed to make more $$ profit.) The early gas engines like a model T could run straight ethanol (as well as gasoline, kerosene.)

The local station here doesn't carry E-15 anything higher, so try to find it at other stations when passing through an area. Been running it in our Expedition Max, gas mileage has slowly crept upward when using it so that was good to see.

I have a 20+ year old chainsaw that has been running 87 octane E-10 for much of its life, runs great on it. It didn't care as much for the higher octane no ethanol stuff when I tested it out, would have to fiddle with the carb settings. Biggest thing is just keeping water out of the fuel which should be obvious anyways.
