Im working on doing the same thing. Building the soil biology the last 2 years with a biological, this year my soil tests showed i didnt need p and k applied this year. Even on the field i didn't put any on last year and pulled off 250+ bu of corn. It is a very wild ride and a lot of uneasiness in my stomach, but things are looking great
Ha. It's easy to have a theory, to actually do it is another thing.
The not applying nutrients didn't bother me. Some fields have maintained a P1 for 12 years with little to no phosphorus.
My fear is the old sod fields they're not good healthy soil, I figured they'd be a fight with the grass all year.
They can go to alfalfa grass and be fallow for a year or two
