Im working on doing the same thing. Building the soil biology the last 2 years with a biological, this year my soil tests showed i didnt need p and k applied this year. Even on the field i didn't put any on last year and pulled off 250+ bu of corn. It is a very wild ride and a lot of uneasiness in my stomach, but things are looking great



Ha. It's easy to have a theory, to actually do it is another thing.

The not applying nutrients didn't bother me. Some fields have maintained a P1 for 12 years with little to no phosphorus.

My fear is the old sod fields they're not good healthy soil, I figured they'd be a fight with the grass all year.
They can go to alfalfa grass and be fallow for a year or two


I do a lot of biology testing that also shows that my biology levels are improving as well so not a theory, strictly applying and testing for actual results. Can also see rootworm levels and nematode levels decrease on the tests as well while being corn on corn last few years when they were high when I started. I don't just look to see if earthworms increase, there is more to it than that to make healthy soil. Earthworms don't necessarily mean a biologically balanced soil microbiome. You have to get the fungal/bacterial ratio to 50/50 as they both need each other to work the most efficently. I actually would like to see a slightly higher fungal number though.
