Plenty of people buy the G5 Plus with permanent activations. 

It sounds like your first one is the "essentials" screen which does require yearly fees or at least every 2 years if you want to use auto trac, section control, etc. 

If you buy the "regular" G5 Plus it will come with AT and SC in the base price and no yearly fees. It costs more up front of course but no fees for those going forward
