Central Nebraska

Your goals and aspirations for your daughter are wonderful.  My wife and I have done a lot to "shelter" our children from the harsh realities of the world but at the same time are not naive about it.  AI will be a part of your daughter's life, and unless she was born in your home and has never been to a doctor it already has been.

It is easy when they are young to have a part in everything they do because you get to spend all your time with them.  My wife stayed home from work until our youngest was in school and still takes Friday afternoons off in the summer to spend time with her.  At the same time we are not raising our children to be us.  We are raising them to be the best version of themselves and understanding how to live Jesus centered lives in a world that doesn't love Jesus.  That does not mean we shelter them from everything that is "of the world."  We simply make sure they understand what is important. We do worldly things all the time. Everyone does.

This conversation has moved way past the AI toy and for that I apologize.  It does lead me to want to ask some additional questions.  I will not be offended if you do not want to answer them, or don't want to answer them in a public forum.
1.  What is/will be your compass for raising your children.  How will you determine what is acceptable for them?
2.  How will you navigate the challenge of your children's desires and goals not matching yours?
3.  You obviously use technology.  You have a computer or tablet or phone that you use to post on this forum.  Would you quit using it of the moderators implements an AI based system to make their jobs easier?

For what its worth.  I've been involved with technology my entire life and am approaching 50 years old.  I use AI very sparingly as it is capable of things I don't understand or approve it. I've used it for designing logos and writing code projects I tinker with, etc.  And I guarantee it is being applied to much more that I do that I'm not even aware of.  I think it has some wonderful possibilities that if used correctly will greatly improve ones productivity.
