Had a load of calves come in Wednesday, 14hr truck ride for them. Was going to process them Friday after letting them sit 36 hrs, well long story short, some things came up and didnt get them done. Now we are sitting with 90ish degree weather and 110 heat index for the next few days. Would you try to run them through at night or early morning even with over night temps around 75 and super humid or would you just wait until we get through the heat? I dont like either option much but thinking waiting may be the better option than getting them all worked up in the heat.
Does your processing facility have lights?
If so, I’d run them through around midnight.
You didn’t say what you were vaccinating with/shots giving but I’d error on the side of caution /watch the “hot” vaccines
Edit: and, I would bed that groups pen like a 50 below blizzard was coming…. Big tanks with cold water.
