Yes and I know another guy who has passed on that bought an 80A parcel in Gratiot County Mich along M46. There was drain on it and the farmer cleaned the brush and small trees out of the drain. One of the State agencies drove by (DEQ or DNR) and reported the farmer to FSA. And FSA backed the state agency. So the farmer agreeed to set aside about 6 acres for lower ground for nature. But then the government wanted the farmer to give up more land. Last I knew the farmers legal
bills were in the $40k range. Not sure how it ended but the farmer lost $ and land out of the deal. This was 20 years ago.
It is not free money from the Government as the farmer looses some of his rights and many times real money or land. And sometimes forever. | |
