Unknown which thread that was, but state of the art hearing aids are much better than found in earlier years.
State-of-the-art hearing aids can selectively filter frequencies, but an audiologist should evaluate what is needed.
Smartphones might be considered....it all depends upon a person's needs. "Smartphone hearing aids and assistive apps use Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and machine learning algorithms to automatically filter out specific frequencies"
