Subject: RE: Bean stands

IN
We drop 135-140k and when I do stand counts to check pods in early august I usually end up with 110-125k. Disked stalks in the fall and mulch finisher in the spring one pass. Still some residue but nothing that really impedes emergence. I’ve counted as high as 130k but it’s rare that that many come through. I don’t like gaps either..might see 4-6 inch gaps in the rows at times but those beans on either side more than account for the 2-3 missed plants. I like my beans to branch out and not just be a stick with 30-40 pods on it. When pod counts per plant are over 65-75 I know it’s going to be a decent crop. We still have stand ability issues with some of our beans from getting too tall. I’m very had them tit high in good ground and I’m 6’0
