All of the above pictures are of ground rig applications. I would expect uniform coverage across the width of the boom.

I do not know if I have any pictures of crop response from airplane applications at 100’ above the crop. I will see if I can find anything. Dropping product from 100’ in the air and not coming back to make any end pass or passes would not be ideal. However a large percentage of the pictures and personal experiences that I have indicate that both drones and ground rigs are also leaving some untreated acres in the difficult to reach places such as headlands, power lines, wind mills short rows, etc.

Whether it’s a ground rig choosing to not spray certain areas because of the crop damage that will be caused, or a helicopter, plane, or drone not spraying certain areas due to the potential damage to machine and/or life, the reality is that very few fungicide applications are being done to absolute perfection in anything other than the very best terrain.

If you spray with a ground rig you are going to damage some crop. The worse the terrain the poorer the performance. If you spray with a helicopter or plane there are some physical obstructions that you simply cannot fly through. Preservation of life for those people would matter some I would think. The worse the terrain and the more obstacles, the poorer the performance. If you spray with a drone there are power line interferences, line of sight issues, terrain following limitations, etc. The worse the terrain and the more obstacles, the poorer the performance. Every application has its downsides. Everybody gets to choose their poison.

I am not better than someone else simply because I choose to ride an electric bicycle instead of drive a pickup.
