Subject: RE: Corn

Been driving NE Iowa and SE Mn this weekend. Some evidence of wet feet and manure application related compaction.

But the well tiled fields planted 4/21 look better than ever for this time of year.

I called the agronomist at the elevator and told him it looks like I was understating yield improvement due to autopath on the sprayer and Y drop sprayer. I suggested that they should lower application charges— now it looks like more corn yield thru less drive down.

I have a main thru the center of a rented field. Corn is noticeably taller and darker. Brother stated it was drier over the main when he worked it last spring. Might have to tile that rented ground now. We will see how the combine monitors talk this fall.

Seeing what I saw— maybe a few more acres of beans than USDA. But corn yield should be higher as poorer acres went to beans. Corn market should break south following seasonal trends.. see nothing to stop it.
