Had a similar thing happen a few years ago. Corn was wet in June and didn’t develop a deep root system then had 3 days of 100 degree temps with 20-30 mph wind. Scorched the whole plant bad. At the time I said the plant just got dehydrated.
Here’s the difference though. Our humidity during those days was under 20%. I doubt the humidity back east will be anywhere that low so the corn WILL last longer.
