swmn | I ordinarily have clean soybean fields but a variety of factors this year has led to late applications and less than ideal control. First POST application was full rates of generic Liberty, glyphosate, Enlist One, 16 oz Dual + 3.4# AMS and 11 oz StrikeLock,. That application was made 2 weeks ago under cooler and windier conditions than ideal (weeds were also bigger than ideal so couldn't wait). Currently have "angry" waterhemp, GRW. marestail (minimal) leafing out, new thistle emerging and volunteer corn. Probably 85% kill overall.
Looks like the next spray opportunity, between wind and rain, may not be until just after July 4 and the crop will be well into R1. The crop basically stood still for 10 days after the last application and still has some cupping, presumably from the Enlist One and Dual and is undersized relative to other soybeans in the area. At this point I don't expect 100% weed kill but need to set them back as much as possible. Plan is to use generic Liberty @ 43 oz, clethodim 3EC at 4 oz and AMS @ 3#.
What should I be using as an adjuvant that would least stress the crop and minimize bloom loss while still giving a little help to the Liberty and clethodim? Liberty seems to work better with an adjuvant and clethodim calls for COC but lists NIS as an alternative. NIS @ 0.25% v/v ? Should I consider using no adjuvant at all? I'm assuming NIS is gentler on the soybeans than MSO or COC so please let me know if that's not the case. Thanks. | |
