North Central Indiana
How far you going away from a good home point with adequate water? I ask because we had multiple different mixing setups over the years and finally went to hotloads from the farm. ~20 miles farthest trip, competent guy running the tender can be loaded in 10-12 minutes with 2400 gallons.
Benefits, never out of water or chemical while out with the trailer. Everything is set stationary and doesn’t take the abuse of the road, sun, rain, etc. Nobody driving by can see chemical labels on tanks and jugs. Biggest con is that we can’t make it back to our farthest fields without the sprayer sitting for a bit. 5-10 minutes usually. Gives the sprayer guy a chance to stretch though.
3 2500 gallon water tanks on a float system fed with 1.5” water line, 3” pump with electric motor, totes through a durameter autobatch system, and 2 10 gallon cones, a 15 and a 60. All of it runs through the pump. Once you get set up for the first load of the day we measure out any hand added products the next load needs as the current one is filling. Between flipping valves and measuring you stay busy but when you get back everything is ready to dump and load right away. Pull the tender inside, load, pull out. Done for the day pull the truck and sprayer in and close the doors and it’s all tucked away. Out of sight out of mind has become my chemical and fertilizer handling mindset. I would go this way if at all possible. If youre a one man crew then this obviously isn’t as handy.
My next goal is to get bulk liquid fertilizer set up to mix our own starter out of the same building but I don’t have the room or the tanks currently
