The side holes will minimize the swirl. If you’re pumping fast enough it’ll probably not get quite all of it out depending on how much pressure your pump is working against.

I’ve never had one exactly like that so I can’t say how effective it will be. Usually see the ones with the big nut on the bottom to draw the fitting down against the bottom of the tank. It’s common for those to have an anti-swirl device in them, but not always possible if you need to use a pipe screwed in from the top to place it and hold it while the big nut is tightened on the outside.
