| I’m sure there’s guys that farm in the western dakotas, Montana and such that can’t imagine having too much rain. We farm in extreme NE SD in the middle of pothole and Fish and Wildlife easement country, and I can honestly say that I have had way more lost yield to too much rain than not enough, and I’m 52. Now when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, my dad and neighbors tell me it was a completely different climate, back when it was almost all grain crops around here and hardly any corn. The humidity was usually low with the heat in the summer and it was a big deal to get an inch of rain or more at any one time. Seems it all switched starting in 1991, and really bad in 93. I do believe that as corn and beans started replacing the small grains, the humidity and whole climate here also changed. | |
