Subject: Repairing another irreplaceable tractor gas tank

north-central Indiana west of Fulton
A rare tractor collector that my dad got acquainted with 40 years ago …..is now friendly with my son. Has to be approaching upper 80s but seems less. My son bought a rare “project” tractor from him and accepted the job of fixing the gas tank of another rare tractor that he has. Bottom was rusted out along with some on the end.
The entire bottom was cut out and a triangle on the end. New like gauge sheet metal was cut to replace the old . Threaded outlet had to be soldered in new bottom as well. A 1/2” ledge was made with an air tool so the new steel would lay into it to match the same plane. Spot welds hold the position, then solder was used to join . Grinding smooth, then a couple rounds of solvent were run through the tumbler before a coat of Redcoat was finally added to finish the inside.
