Subject: JD 4020 diesel block heater options

Sask
Wondering what alternative options work ok for connecting a circulating tank heater. Can't get a plug out of head to connect between port on left side of block to right side of head. It came with a tank heater connected with hose from radiator drain port to left side of block. Didn't try it to see how well it works. Have rad out and am wondering if I should change how it is connected. Putting in a new water pump and it has an extra port beside top 5 /8" hose connection so I could draw from left side block port and return to top of water pump. The present system of drawing from rad drain and returning to block is probably OK. Tractor won't get any winter use, mainly for an auger tractor and so maybe starting some mornings at freezing point. Or if it is winter and tractor needs to be moved while stored in shed.
