It has more to do with the carrier of the fungicide. In a ground rig the carrier is water. In a plane the carrier is air.
The blast of air down into the canopy is what gets your coverage. Which one is better? That's a different discussion and everyone has an opinion.
I have a lot of experience with drones. Built my own, made and produced videos etc, etc. I posted on here many times they were a joke.
I WAS WRONG.
I admit it. What else can you do when self propelled sprayers won't run in your hills or an air plane is not available and not practicle? We hired a drone and it did an exceptional job. I have posted pictures before and I will tell anyone a drone is a viable option.
Your explanation of air or water being the carrier is the first time I have read a legitiment explanation of why air applied systems can use less water per acre.
