 Qulin, MO | Over 75% of my rice acres are furrow irrigated on beds and another 20% is on ground that is graded flat and doesn’t require any levees to hold a flood. The one field that has levees on it, it is more practical to have the 3 levees on it than it would be to furrow irrigate it due to the layout.
I doubt we would ever go back to full scale levee rice. The labor savings far outweigh any cons, which there aren’t many. | |
