Subject: RE: Updating spray trailer

NWMO
Back story... Built flat deck spread axle W/single tank, 2 tote on front trailer with fold-outs to haul sprayer... tried a goose neck W/single tank and 2 totes... tried a Enclosed trailer W/2 tanks plus a side door wide enough to get totes in... And now using using a flat deck spread axle W/two tanks and 4 tote capacity... Last is bumper pull for hot loads...

Good and Bad I found over many years...

The Sprayer hauler trailer was fine but needed drive distance to make time loading sprayer worth it... Negitive was Low water volume... And only room for 2 totes w/meters (could have got 4 by stacking but wasn't a thing back then)... Slow loading with one mixing cone... But it worked back during custom spraying days for long travel time but need a second water tender to haul water and extra chem to trailer...

Gooseneck was a load on Pickup but would get in and out tight spots easier... Low water volume was still a issue... Not enough room for more totes w/meters... Slow loading with one mixing cone... Also had to use alot of packaged chems...

Enclosed trailer was great for security but it was HOT inside and chem vapors were noticeable... It got very congested too adding more mixing cones...

Finally have went to a spread axle flat bed 2/tanks 5000gal total water, 4 tote rack, and 4 cones one for each tote... Three reasons for cones and suck draw out... First it is cheap simple and accurate... Second faster and much less foaming... Third can have a batch being made while sprayer is out spraying with out mixing pure products together, then can introduce them into sprayer in correct order... This has probably been the best and quickest setup to date... And it will fill bumper Hot Load trailer if that becomes useful for certain areas...

We skipped the drop deck as most got very low to ground and could get hung up in our area... Seen this when helpin hay haulers... Pushed several over fairly small humps... But lower height would definately be nice most of the time...

Have updated made changes many times over years and this last setup w/hot load trailer is simple and works for us... We have small fields, lot of moving, terible roads and a big sprayer...

I don't think there is a perfect setup that is for everyone... Sprayer size, field size, acres per day, terrain and roads in your area ect... So very hard question to awnser on building or updating a spray trailer...

Probably get better awnsers with questions each indivdual aspect... Best trailer type, best mixing setup, ect... Every part of the setup is a completely different question to post for best opinions... for your setup, area and expectations...
