I never had a 70, but on my 9660, one of my least favorite jobs was working on the shoe auger drive.  The driveshaft had to be taken apart to fix any of the front auger bearings, depressing just thinking about that job.  I think the 70s had an updated auger pan that allowed for removing augers individually to change bearings, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
