Faunsdale, AL | Which tractor?
I can see how some of the newer ones with a plastic tank could be nigh impossible to get totally clean without removing it. Still should be able to remove and pressure wash and then reinstall instead of buying a new tank.
There should be no question if it’s got that crud in it or not. Take old fuel filter off and pour out contents on a paper towel while bumping filter on something to dislodge the crud. If it’s full of brown to black snot, it has a biological growth of some kind. It’ll be well worth treating all the fuel on the place at once to eliminate it recolonizing from a storage or transfer tank. Have to start at the source and get everything.
Short of removing the tractor tank and pressure washing, I have had good results from dumping in treatment and then dropping in a pump and pumping fuel out through a filter into a barrel or transfer tank etc. when tank gets low, use filtered fuel to rinse back into tank as you’re pumping. Can do the same without the filter but need to rinse with clean fuel to finish before sucking the last out. | |
