Last summer I cut some at 17% moisture (they threshed out surprisingly well)...had plenty of air in the bin...but we were *more* humid than usual, so I still ended up playing with them all summer to be sure I didn't have hot spots, etc...moving truckloads out, then back in, etc.
Still, I'd have had more field losses & weeds if I had waited to cut them.
...every decision involves risk, but the main one in this case was labor spent assuring that I didn't have oats spoiling. |
