Iowa | Been there. I honestly think the “corn belt” is getting too diverse to make much of a difference. Just like how a big farmer has to have more 0’s to drag an average down than the guy that farms 1 field - this is the same way. Corn is grown from Canada to Texas from Colorado to the Appalachian mountains- what your prime dirt loses some guy in the Dakotas knocks it out of the park. 2024 was a mess for some of the highest corn production counties in Iowa, yet it wasn’t really a blip on the national average, and our end users hauled stuff in from South Dakota and only had to move the basis a little bit to get it done. The usda will make minor adjustments to slow or move some useage- but until the pipeline is empty there’s no proof of what’s really around. | |
