Hooker Twp,Ne
When it rains to much,to often and the corn roots can’t take up the soil nutrients properly. Wait till the corn tassels and it gets hot and dry. The corn plant won’t last long. Once the tassel is out the roots are done growing also. And the problem is that a lot of corn is only one short month from tassel. Before chemicals we would row crop cultivate and open up the soil so the roots could get some air. And within two days a big difference was seen in the corn plant. Today very little of that is done. I’m the ole timer now but years ago ole timer would tell me that he would have worse crop when to wet then to dry over the years.
