We farm all kinds of soil types in north central Illinois Some is black pattern tiled. Some is variable sand not as well drained. Usually the high sand burns up , and the low black sand is where the yield comes from. This year the low black is drowned out or hurt from too much rain. The high sand has lost a lot of nitrogen as well as the pattern tiled stuff from simply too much rain.. So at what point does rain not make grain and the markets take notice?
Rain always makes grain until it doesn’t. And, that ruling won’t come out until the 2026 final crop report on Jan 10 or 11th of 2027.
Not trying to be funny because dead-as$-serious the market doesn’t know until USDA says so. |
