Subject: RE: great plains ultratil

Reelsville, IN
We have one we have used for years. works great to smooth after nh3 application but field needs to be pretty clean. If there is much green cover the spiders can plug up. Biggest complaint I had was the self leveling hitch had a lot a wear point and it got pretty sloppy. We rebuilt the hitch and just made it solid and it seems to work fine that way. We put a seeder box on it to use for cover crops. been thinking about moving the seeder to our Salford because in heavy corn stalks the spiders will just start dragging occasionally. I don't think it is the fault of the Ultratill but just the fact of to much fresh residue to deal with. May consider selling the Ultratill since we have moved to doing more cover crops and it doesn't fit our program as well anymore.
