For what use you are saying, I’d keep 06 or pre. Anything first gen with DPF (diesel particulate filter, is as bad as second gen with DPF and SCR DEF (Selective Catalyst Reduction, Diesel Exhaust Fluid) I’m told the third generation that combined the DPF and SCR into one “hot box” was a better system. Depending on manufacturer, this was sometime around 2015-2017 I think.
