You get a ticket for say a small calf getting through a fence?

Yep, less than a week old calf. I explained to the judge that until they get older they will walk through a electric or barb wire fence, especially if there is higher grass to hide. I unfortunately was truthful and told AC calf was probably out but wasn't when I arrived on the scene (nor was calf out when they arrived). I planted a row of pine trees along my cow pasture to hinder the view of folks even.

I've had to have a vet come and write a letter that the cows were OK laying outside in the snow instead of being in the barn (cows choice), when it gets below 'zero wind chill'. The news media broadcasts that all critters need to be inside when it gets that cold, so folks call Animal Control if they see them outside. They'd have a heart attack seeing Russ' cattle out on the range or the guys with just a shelter belt of trees.

Heck, one year the vet had to have another vet come and check on his horses because he was reported to AC because they were outside in the cold. The fun of being surrounded by city folk 'do-gooders.
