NC Iowa
Okay so now lets say I decide it is too late in the season to spray my second pass of fungicide. The Tare Spot just burns the corn up and I clearly made a poor choice. The corn has its ear, each ear still has the same rows, and the kernels were far enough along non of the kernels died off(I'm making a lot of assumptions but I think mostly true). The yield could drop a lot in this situation but I still have the same number of kernels. If I started to combine that field and the yield was 150 bu/acre the first thing in my head would how bad is the test weight going to be.

So by allowing the plant to die early from tare spot and stop packing sugar into the kernel the kernel will be less dense. Now I effected test weight.

Have you ever combined a terrible crop and had great test weight corn?

Forever is a long time
