Decker MI | I cannot believe the childishness of people when this subject comes up... We all like to brag about 60 lb corn but the bills still only get paid by the total lb of corn harvested per acre. A number of years my brother took Michigan States trials and put them in an excel sheet and sorted them by yield and by test weight and 67% of the highest test weight hybrids were in the bottom 10 of lb per acre while over 60% of the lowest test weight hybrids were in the top 10 of lb per acre. I agree we all want a hybrid that has good weight but until we can admit that we get paid by lb per acre and not by lb per bushel we will just keep beating the dead horse. | |
