Driftless SW Wisconsin
Donald, there's a reason the Angus association has a docility epd. Docility is also a highly heritable trait.

A few years ago I wanted to experiment and purchased a pure bred Angus heifer from nearby Woodhill Angus. She had a good DOC epd of about 19 as I recall. She spent her entire life here in my Hereford cow herd. I was interested in producing some bwf calves to get a better price at the sale barn.

While this Angus cow was never flighty or dangerous, she was standoffish, for lack of a better word. Always focused more on me than the fresh grass during pasture rotations. Her calves tended to be the same. Just not like my Herefords although there is a range of behaviors in Herefords also.
