Pittsburg, Kansas
In Girard, Kansas the Coop there used to have an older conventional processing plant. I never was inside it and don't know exactly how it worked but I assume it was a mechanical press. I know the extraction percentage was less and thus the protein and fat percentage was different in the meal also.

But it finally shut down a number of years ago now. It would be interesting to know the exact process they useed. I know some people from the area monitor AgTalk but rarely if ever post. I don't know if they had to do things like the deodorizer steps or not.

I would be interested to have an explanation of the steps in an old soybean processing plant.

Here's some information about conventional extraction process.
