I took this picture at the nearby soybean processing plant where I deliver my soybeans. All they do here is process beans into meal and oil. The hexane is used in that process. From here the oil goes in a tanker on the rail for further processing into many products including cooking oil using more such chemicals. I’ll stick to using real butter and lard.

Is the hexane your biggest concern or plant oils? Would mechanically pressed soybean oil be okay or better?

The hexane improves the extraction rates of oil from the soybeans so it is obvious why the processors want to use it.
