Run some errands and get little things out of the way, but in general you can do everything but lift heavy objects within a few days. I had a valve replaced and was only in the hospital 3 days.Had trouble sleeping but the only real problem was reaching for things until the sternum healed. If you have a good recliner or couch it is just a matter of going slow,,started driving right away but there was a little fog at times,,,had to think ahead when in traffic to get into the right lanes even though I had driven those roads a hundred times. When they start talking about rehab get some real advice about lifting,,,,all they had me do in rehab was exercise bikes to build endurance,,,upper body got way out of shape until the 2 month mark when I started being more active and pulled muscles and aches in shoulders and back doing routine things.
